WHS Clubs and Organizations

Willamette High School’s clubs and organizations provide students with opportunities to enjoy common interests, explore new ideas, and hone particular talents, gaining a better understanding of themselves and the world they live in.

AAPI STUDENT UNION (Asian American Pacific Islander): Providing a space for Asian, Pacific Islander and Asian/Pacific Islander biracial and multiracial identifying students to engage, celebrate heritage and culture, and advocate for inclusion and equality.

BLACK STUDENT UNION: A group that focuses on African American culture, academic excellence and community service.

CHESS CLUB: Open to all skill levels. Meets Wednesdays during lunch. Also competes against other local high schools.

DECA: DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management to be career and college ready. .

DISC GOLF CLUB: Putting league. Discs provided or bring your own. Chance to win free discs. MON & WED Small Gym.

ENVIRONMENTAL ACTION CLUB: This group hopes to increase awareness of environmental issues to help make our campus and world a better place.

GERMAN CLUB: Come practice your German in a relaxed conversational setting. Hosted by a German exchange teacher. Group meets Tuesdays at lunch in room.34.

INTERNATIONAL CLUB:
Engages our International students by planning activities and learning about the various countries represented at WHS.

LATINOS UNIDOS: A club that focuses on Latino cultural pride, academic excellence and community service.

MAGIC – THE GATHERING: MTG card play in a friendly, supportive atmosphere. We have cards if you do not! Wednesday after school.

MARIACHI CLUB: The Mariachi Club is open to student musicians interested in performing beginning and advanced level Mariachi and learning the history, tradition and repertoire of mariachi ensemble literature. Instruments are provided during the Club meetings.

MOCK TRIAL: Live competition based on authentic courtroom experiences in front of a judge and jury. Meetings are Wednesday after School.

NASU (NATIVE AMERICAN STUDENT UNION):
Anyone who identifies as a native American is welcome to join. Meets Friday at lunch.

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY: NHS is a service and recognition group for students with high GPAs and citizenship. Meetings are once a month during lunch.*

OBOB: A club for students who love to read. Students read 12 books, form teams and “battle” other teams about their knowledge of each book.

PLANT CLUB: Focusing on house plants, gardening, and landscaping tips.

SPEECH & DEBATE:
Meets throughout the year. Compete in speech and debate tournaments around the state.

TRANSITION CREW: All freshmen and new students are placed with T-Crew members to assist with orientation and success at WHS. Juniors and Seniors have the opportunity to be leaders.*

VIDEO GAME DESIGN: We organize teams and compete in the Oregon Game Project Challenge, a statewide, year-long, Computer Science competition.

VINYL CLUB: Students gather and listen to music in the medium of Vinyl. There are themes and raffles. Basically, we sit around, eat lunch, and listen to a wide swathe of music.

WOLVERINE HOUR: Provided in the Media Center MON-THU 3:30 – 4:45.

WOLVERINE PAGEANT: Part of the Kids Helping Kids program through Children’s Miracle Network. Students from all grades are able to participate and work throughout the year to raise money for our local CMN.*
