Please read below for important updates about Parent-Teacher Conferences and our eventual shift to Hybrid Learning.

Parent-Teacher Conferences: You are invited to join our teachers for parent-teacher conferences during the second week of February (Feb 8-12) to talk about how your student is doing with distance learning, revisit the goals you may have set during your last conference, and check in with your child’s teacher about any continued support your student may need.
Teachers will be emailing home a conference sign-up link shortly. Our teachers may also reach out to families requesting a conference to talk specifically about the best ways Clear Lake can support your student learner. If you have any trouble using the conference link, please contact your child’s teacher, or our office at 541-689-0511.
Here are some important dates and information for you to know and mark on your calendars:
- February 8-12th: Conference Week
- February 10th: No School (Conferences)
- February 12th: AM and PM Zooms will be at their regular times, but will be shortened in duration to accommodate parent-teacher conferences
- February 15th: No school for students as it is Presidents’ Day
Hybrid Schedule Update: While we have not yet set a date for reopening, we have been busy planning for the eventual return of students to our building. We hope to communicate more information soon about our specific plans for hybrid instruction, but until then, here are a few updates:
What can I expect from the K-5 Hybrid schedule?
- Each homeroom class will be divided into two cohorts, or small groups, Cohort A and B.
- Cohort A will come to school on Monday and Tuesday and Cohort B will come to school on Thursday and Friday.
- Wednesday will be used for deep cleaning in the building and for short community/connection ZOOM meetings with teachers.
- On off-site days, students will access a short morning meeting via Zoom with their teacher and their entire homeroom class (cohort A and B).
- Students will also have flexible learning that includes core content, music, and PE activities on their off-site days.
- As part of our health and safety protocols, on-site days will have slightly staggered arrival and dismissal times with a release time of right around 2:00 PM.

What can I expect from the Comprehensive Distance Learning (CDL) schedule?
- At Clear Lake, some of our teachers will stay in Comprehensive Distance Learning (CDL), and some will be teaching in-building for Hybrid.
- Grade-level teacher teams (Hybrid and CDL) will continue to collaborate and plan together for consistency and continuity in student learning.
- Students in CDL will have an AM or PM schedule to keep the cohorts small (due to staffing needs and small cohorts, some grade levels may not have both AM and PM schedules available.)
- K-3 students will continue to participate in live learning via Zoom for 1.5 hours each day (M, Tu, Th, F) along with flexible learning.
- Students in grades 4-5 will participate in live learning for 2 hours per day (M, Tu, Th, F) along with flexible learning.
- Wednesdays will still include a short full-class Zoom meeting and flexible learning.
- Essentially, CDL will look the same as it does right now.
Will my child have the same teacher?
There are a few circumstances that could result in a teacher change. We are currently working on staffing for both CDL and Hybrid instruction and we will do our very best to limit teacher changes. We want kids to stay connected to their classmates and their current teacher. Here are some potential scenarios:
- Some Clear Lake teachers will stay in CDL and not return onsite for Hybrid instruction. If your child’s teacher stays in CDL and your child returns to Hybrid, it would naturally result in a teacher change.
- If your child stays in CDL and their teacher returns to Hybrid, this would also result in a teacher change.
- There could be a situation where your child’s teacher plans to be on-site for Hybrid and the majority of their class plans to stay in CDL. In this case or vice versa, we may have to move a handful of students from one class to another to balance out Hybrid homeroom classes and keep the cohort numbers within our health and safety guidelines.
- At some grade levels, we may need to add another teacher for Hybrid instruction or CDL. We have very clear health and safety protocols that impact room capacity and we intend to keep our A/B cohorts small. If we add another teacher to a grade level, some students would move into the new class.
As you can see, there are some circumstances that could result in a teacher change. We believe positive relationships are critical to students’ success in school and will create a warm handoff if a teacher change is needed to make the transition as smooth as possible.
