Please join us in welcoming Bill Wagner – the new Bethel School District Athletic Director – to team Bethel!
Wagner, who currently serves as the assistant athletic director at North Eugene High School, will officially start with the district in August, but is eager to begin working in Bethel.
The longtime coach and assistant athletic director said that the growing Bethel community has a lot of potential that he’s excited to explore.
“Bethel is a goldmine of opportunity,” Wagner said. “It’s steadily growing with a ton of potential and I look forward to being able to grow sports programming in all grade levels.”
Wagner said that the fact that Bethel only has one high school allows for a lot of opportunity.
“With it being a one high school district there’s a lot of capabilities to create a full K-12 experience,” he said. “We want kids to grow up excited about eventually playing at WHS. This isn’t just a WHS program but a whole program within Bethel, and we want to create that excitement at the K-12 experience – where people are excited to get to the point when they’re wearing a WHS uniform jersey.”
Wagner has coached both girls and boys basketball at North Eugene High School and Springfield High School since 1998. He also has experience helping with football, baseball, softball, wrestling and several other sports at the high school level.
One of his strengths, he said, is that he is well-versed in running a quality program and helping build relationships with students and families.
“I’m really excited to be joining the Bethel team,” he said. “I can’t wait to get started.”

Wagner, quien actualmente se desempeña como director atlético asistente en la preparatoria de North Eugene, comenzará oficialmente con el distrito en agosto, pero está ansioso por comenzar a trabajar en Bethel.

“Bethel es una mina de oro de oportunidades”, dijo Wagner. “Está creciendo constantemente con un montón de potencial y espero poder hacer crecer la programación deportiva en todos los niveles de grado”.
Wagner dijo que el hecho de que Bethel solo tenga una preparatoria permite muchas oportunidades.
“Al ser un distrito con solo una preparatoria, hay muchas capacidades para crear una experiencia completa de K-12”, dijo. “Queremos que los niños crezcan entusiasmados con eventualmente jugar en WHS. Este no es solo un programa de WHS, sino todo un programa dentro de Bethel, y queremos crear esa emoción en la experiencia K-12, donde las personas están emocionadas de llegar al punto en que usan una camiseta uniforme de WHS”.
Wagner ha entrenado baloncesto femenino y masculino en las preparatorias de North Eugene y Springfield desde 1998. También tiene experiencia ayudando con fútbol americano, béisbol, softbol, las luchas y varios otros deportes a nivel de preparatoria.
Una de sus fortalezas, dijo, es que está bien versado en la ejecución de un programa de calidad y ayuda a construir relaciones con los estudiantes y las familias.
“Estoy muy emocionado de unirme al equipo de Bethel”, dijo. “No puedo esperar para comenzar”.
