State assessments

Spring assessment season is underway in Bethel! Students in grades 3–8 and 11 are taking Oregon's SBAC assessments in reading, writing, and math — a chance to reflect the real learning happening in our classrooms every day. This year, we're making results more timely and useful: families will receive a personalized report for each student who completes SBAC, including assessment results, attendance, and other key progress information, all before summer break. What are the best ways to support your student? Make sure they're in school consistently, well-rested, and know you believe in them!

Attendance matters!

The early years of school are some of the most important — and every day truly counts. Students in kindergarten through 3rd grade are building the foundational skills in reading, math, and social connection that will carry them through their entire school career. When young learners show up regularly, they feel more connected to their teachers and classmates, stay on track academically, and develop confidence that grows with them. This spring, we're encouraging all Bethel families to prioritize daily attendance and celebrate every week their student shows up ready to learn. Small routines at home and a word of encouragement can make all the difference!

students with a dinosaur
Life Skills students at Irving Elementary wrapped up a three-week dinosaur unit with a special Dinosaur Day—full of hands-on activities, laughter, and unforgettable moments.
Hazel’s painting of the BCTN house was designed to feel warm and inviting, reflecting how much the space means to her as a place where she feels welcomed, safe, and supported. BCTN serves young adults ages 18–21 who are eligible for special services. The program works to build confidence, independence, and community.

Bethel Celebrates Earth Week!

April 22, 2026, is the 56th Annual Earth Day. The Bethel Green Teams are super proud to announce that this year, we will have many activities at each school to celebrate together. Our main focus will be the launching of our "Bethel SD is IDLE FREE" district wide campaign to reduce vehicles idling on our campuses, especially during drop off and dismissal. We will also work with our students to mitigate food waste. Plus, each site will plan their own engaging, educational lessons and events to remind each Bethel student of the importance of reducing solid waste in the landfills and bring an awareness of sustainability to our community.
Also, if you would like to support any Bethel school in its Electronics Recycling Drive, please drop off electronics between now and April 24th at the school site or NextStep 245 Jackson St... just don't forget to tell them which school you want to help.
