KITS: Kids in Transition to School Program

The Kids in Transition to School (KITS) program is a school readiness intervention developed at Oregon Social Learning Center and is designed for students and families. The program is open to all kindergarten students in Bethel.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

  • The program is designed to provide a boost to children’s literacy, self-regulation, and social skills prior to entering kindergarten.
  • The school readiness groups are structured like a kindergarten class. 
  • Parents/guardians attend workshops to learn ways to support their child during the all-important start in kindergarten
  • Transportation is provided
  • Breakfast and healthy snacks are provided

OVERVIEW

  • Summer Session:  June 29 – August 6
  • Morning sessions: 8:30 -11 a.m. on Monday-Thursday
  • Transportation provided if needed (also for families during family group sessions)
  • Child care for siblings will be provided during family group sessions.
  • Interpreters are available for speakers of languages other than English.
  • Snacks and breakfast are provided for students
